I am Director of the new Market Shaping Accelerator and Lead Researcher at the Development Innovation Lab at the University of Chicago. My research focuses on the micro-foundations of political and social behavior to gain leverage on macro policy-relevant questions. My current work in the political economy of development explores the existence and consequences of social norms of voting in semi-authoritarian states, government accountability in low- and middle-income countries, and inter-group relations. I also work on designing and evaluating optimal policies to combat the spread of online misinformation and increase vaccination, as well as applied research methods.
